Radiator Madness

Master Bedroom Cover
When we moved into our house, I wasn't thrilled with the radiators. Some people love the look of these, I do not feel this way. I inquired about some custom made wooden covers that I had found online, and was shocked when I got an email reply saying they would be about $600/piece. I have 9 radiators. I can think of a far better way to spend $5500, but alas, my radiators were still naked. In swoops Pat. Pat is the wonderful boyfriend of my very best friend Melanie. He is a framer by profession, and, like my husband, extremely handy. He drew up some designs, and he and Grant started and finished the building process in one Saturday. That Sunday I painted and BAM! 3 gorgeous radiator covers for $102. All the paint I used was leftover from our rooms, so all we paid for was the wood. We decided to do them slowly, as our living room and dining room already have covers (which will eventually be replaced, but aren't imperative.) The rest of the rooms aren't done yet, so the covers will come later. The hallway cover (which can be seen here) was painted BM "Cotton Balls" and the rungs were painted BM "Bare" to give it a slight difference, and match the hallway color. The master bedroom (above) was also painted "Cotton Balls" and the rungs were painted "Whale Gray", the same color as the nook. I am in the process of making a cushion- which I will post a tutorial for. The 3rd cover was put in the master bathroom, and was just painted "Cotton Balls" to blend with the beadboard. The furry babies love sleeping on this one.
